Whether your skills are as a beginner or expert, we need you knitting abilities and crocheting hooks at the ready!
Decorated knitted or crocheted cuffs provide a stimulation activity for restless hands often experienced by those with Dementia.
Any oddments of wool will work, as you can create your own design with bands of different colours and stitches.
The knitted or crocheted area you are wanting to produce should measure approx 12 inches (30cm) wide and approx 24 inches (60 cm long). In lighter wool cast on approx 60 stitches, in chunky wool cast on approx 48 stitches.
It’s easier to add your decorations before you sew up the finished piece. This can take the form of pompoms, tassels, crocheted flowers, loops of ribbon, buttons and beads. The list is endless, let your imagination take over.
Once you have added your fidget bits fold the piece in half, long ways on, with the bits on the inside and sew the two edges together. Turn back the right way and there you have a fidget sleeve.
We look forward to receiving your finished Fidget Sleeves which are distributed to individuals at home and in Residential Care who are living with Dementia around the North East region.
Please don’t hesitate to get in touch with us if you have any questions, suggestions or requests.
Thank You
